Four Legs Climbing

In case there is any confusion from the title of this post…I do not actually have four legs, but my dog does! This weekend my family and I took her hiking with us and to our surprise she actually made it all the way to the top with us. I don’t really think she actually knew where she was climbing since her head was in the dirt the whole time, but she kept climbing.

The biggest bump in the road was a literal one. While going up the steeper part of the trek, Ellie (my dog) decided to try and jump up on a huge fallen log. Not only did she not make it up on the log, but she kinda ran in mid air trying to get up the rest of the way like a miniature Scooby Doo. Thankfully she kind of did a weird flip turn and landed no problem, but needless to say she didn’t try a jump like that again.

We went hiking at Sugarloaf mountain which is only about 40 minutes from where I live. The mountain isn’t too big and you drive up part of it, so it isn’t like you have to climb the entire mountain. When you get to the top, there is a great view and you don’t feel like you aren’t going to be able to breathe for the next week. If you are looking for something different then whats right in the immediate DC area, Sugarloaf is definitely a good option.
